Introduction of Niobium Titanium Wire

  • Composition:
    • Composed of niobium and titanium metals.
    • Industrial production typically includes 20% to 60% titanium by weight.
    • Superconducting alloys generally contain 46% to 50% titanium by mass.
  • Production Process:
    • Sintering: Mixed powders are sintered.
    • Melting: Electrodes made of niobium and titanium sheets are melted multiple times in a vacuum arc furnace or electron beam furnace to create alloy ingots.
    • Forging: Alloy ingots are hot-extruded or hot-forged into bars.
    • Heat Treatment: Bars undergo heat treatment.
  • Assembly:
    • Bars are combined with oxygen-free copper in a sealed sheath.
    • The assembly undergoes multiple cycles of extrusion, cold working, and heat treatment.
  • Final Product:
    • NbTi-Cu-CuNi wires of the required diameter.
    • Wires are fabricated into various sizes of stranded cables, braided tapes, or hollow conductors.
    • These form a composite of NbTi-Cu-CuNi multifilamentary wires, usable as niobium-titanium superconductors.

Specification

  • Niobium-titanium alloy wires are classified based on their diameter.
  • Typical diameters range from 0.1 millimeters to 3 millimeters.
  • Common specifications include 0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 1 mm, and 2 mm.
  • Different diameter wires are used for different applications.
  • Users can select the appropriate specifications according to their specific requirements.
