- Reacts with 30% hydrogen peroxide to form a yellow solution
- Strong reducing agent
- Converts to titanium dioxide (Ti₂O₃) when heated in air at 150-200°C
- Preparation:
- Heating a mixture of metallic titanium and titanium dioxide in a vacuum at 1600°C
- Hydrogen reduction of titanium dioxide at 2000°C
- Magnesium reduction of titanium dioxide at 1000°C
- Zastosowania:
- Electronic materials due to oxygen or titanium vacancy properties
