  • Solubility:
    • Soluble in 40% hydrofluoric acid
    • Easily corroded by hot concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated hydrochloric acid, and concentrated nitric acid
    • Also corroded by concentrated alkalis
  • Reactivity:
    • Reacts with 30% hydrogen peroxide to form a yellow solution
    • Strong reducing agent
    • Converts to titanium dioxide (Ti₂O₃) when heated in air at 150-200°C
  • Preparation:
    • Heating a mixture of metallic titanium and titanium dioxide in a vacuum at 1600°C
    • Hydrogen reduction of titanium dioxide at 2000°C
    • Magnesium reduction of titanium dioxide at 1000°C
  • Zastosowania:
    • Electronic materials due to oxygen or titanium vacancy properties
