Ti6AL7Nb

Brief

Other name of Ti6AL7Nb: TC 20

TC20 Titanium Alloy Overview:

Nominal composition: Ti6AL7Nb

Features:

  • Low density
  • Appropriate strength
  • Excellent biocompatibility
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Processability

Application in the Biomedical Field:

  • Widely used as a biomedical material due to its properties.
  • TC20 replaces toxic element V with non-toxic β stabilizer Nb, eliminating harmful effects on the human body.
  • Long-term clinical use has gained recognition in the medical field.
  • Expected to gradually replace Ti6AL7Nb titanium alloy.

Product Forms:

  • Mainly available in rod form domestically.
  • Increasing demand for TC20 titanium alloy sheets in the medical field.

Research on TC20 Titanium Alloy Sheet Preparation:

  • Limited studies on the preparation process of TC20 titanium alloy sheets.
  • Studies have shown that TC20 titanium alloy billets are rolled in the two-phase zone at temperatures ranging from 900°C to 960°C.
  • Deformation control during rolling typically ranges from 50% to 70%.
  • Microstructure after rolling consists of typical dual-phase structures, mainly spherical α+ intergranular β or β transformation structures.
  • Grain size is generally fine in the two-phase zone rolling, meeting the standards of ETTC2’s A1 to A9 metallographic atlas.
  • Exhibits excellent mechanical properties.

Challenges and Improvements:

  • Conventional mechanical properties and dimensional appearance are stable in industrial production.
  • Improvement potential exists in the stability of the microstructure batch.
